Exercise: A Secret to Getting a Healthy Skin
Written by: Olamilekan Akinsulure, September 19th, 2021.
A healthy, glowing skin is what every man and woman desires. It has been proven that exercise is really good for your skin.
Exercising leads to an increased heart rate, which improves blood circulation and can help to properly transport Oxygen and nutrients to the working cells of the skin. This will greatly help the skin become more healthy and give it a slight glow. Also, improved blood flow that is caused by exercise helps to carry away waste and toxins from the working cells of the skin more effectively. Exercise can also help to prevent quick aging.
Exercise has also been found to reduce stress. Read my post on Stress Management below :
STRESS MANAGEMENT
I personally have noticed that whenever I get overstressed, I get acne breakouts and a wrinkled face. Exercise then helps me to control my body’s hormonal response to stress. So, exercise is good for stress management. Exercise also boosts the body immune system which can help fight off skin issues when they arise.
Again, exercise helps in the production of collagen which helps the skin look very firm and elastic.

Tips On How To Care For Your Skin Before And After Workout.
• Shower immediately after workout. Exercising can cause a buildup of sweat, oil and dirt in the pores which when blocked can cause acne or pimples breakout. You wouldn’t want that, so, it’s very advisable to take a good shower right after workout.
• Wipe the gym equipment properly before and after use. You don’t want to rub your body on a bench with someone’s sweat on it. That’s gross! So, right before you start, wipe the equipment and, clean it up for the next person to use. This will prevent contracting some skin issues such as eczema which the other user might have. Using hand sanitizers is also advisable.
• Remove all makeup right before workout. Makeup can block the pores, so, exercising and breaking sweats on a face with makeup will definitely cause more clogging of pores. So, wash your face properly or wipe it properly to get rid of every makeup before workout.
• Drink enough water after workout as much water is lost to sweating.
• If you’re working out in the sun (which isn’t advisable though), use sunscreen liberally. The sun can cause tanning and sunburns to your skin. So you’ll do your skin a lot of good by using a very good sunscreen, preferably every 1-2 hours.
