Hey there! Using this medium to say merry christmas and happy new year in advance to everyone🙌
I’ve been getting a lot of this question lately: Is it good to workout on empty stomach? Well, to learn the truth, read on.
Now, whether you should workout on empty stomach or not depends on the kind of workout you’re doing.
If you’re working out to lose weight or lose some fat, then fasted cardio is a good choice. What is fasted cardio? This is when you do cardio on an empty stomach. And this should be done early in the morning, before breakfast of course. This is because you tend to use up a lot of fat for fuel since there’s no food (fuel) in your stomach.
Meanwhile, there are studies have shown that it really makes no difference, but then, I believe doing cardio, like running, cycling, swimming etc. in the morning, before breakfast is a good shot for weight loss.
Note that you shouldn’t go more than one hour of fasted cardio.
On the other hand, if you’re going for a killer workout sesh like heavy weightlifting or HIIT, you know, workout requiring a lot of strength and energy, you need to eat so you can get some fuel for the workout period. If not, you might get nauseous, dizzy, shaky or hypoglycemic.

What Are Some Pre-workout Meals?
Generally, before workout, you should take:
• Carbs – They help to replenish glycogen in the body. e.g. bread, rice, etc.
• Proteins – They help in muscle protein synthesis and muscle recovery. e.g. meat, fish, milk, egg, etc.
• Fats – The main purpose is for fuel. e.g. peanut butter, avocados, peanuts etc.
Others are fruits, veggies and water.
Note that it is advisable to eat about 2-3 hours before workout. Meanwhile, the quantity of food taken should reduce with a decrease in time between food and workout. Take a full diet consisting of carbs, proteins and fats before workout.
What Are Some Post-workout Meals?
Almost the same with pre-workout – carbs, proteins, maybe a little bit of fats, fruits, veggies, and PLENTY OF WATER to prevent dehydration due to excessive sweating.
Also, it is good to take abundant rest after workout. It helps your muscles to rest and rebuild.
So, guys, now you’ve learnt the “mystery” behind eating or not before workout.
See you next time, don’t forget to like, share massively and comment. I’d really love to hear from you. Merry Christmas once again and happy New year in advance. Merci 💪
