Overcoming Inconsistency In Workout

I’ve talked to a number of people and I realized that one of the major issues that people face in their quest for fitness is inconsistency. Sadly, it can cause them to eventually scrap workout from their daily activities.

To succeed in virtually all areas of life, consistency is key, workout is not an exception. Actually, to be honest, I also go through the inconsistency issue too. But then, I realized it’s a major setback for me in achieving my fitness goal and so I started dealing with it as much as I can.

Consistency, not only in workout, but also in your diet is what will help you achieve your fitness goal.

So, in this post, I’ll be sharing with you a few hacks on how to overcome inconsistency.

Know Why You’re Working Out And Keep Reminding Yourself

A large number of people just dive into workout without first asking themselves why they’re doing it. That’s why I first ask my clients, “WHY DO YOU WANT TO DO THIS?” Do you want to lose weight, build muscle mass, manage a health issue, increase your energy or stamina? Find a purpose for doing workout. It’ll provide a basis for helping you achieve your goal and also to keep you going.

Meanwhile, it’s not enough to just have a purpose for doing it, it’s pretty important to keep reminding yourself everyday as it is very possible to lose focus and get distracted along the way.

So, have a purpose and stick to it.

Set A Definite Plan That Fits In Your Daily Activities

After you’ve established a purpose for working out, the next line of action is to create a plan for yourself. If you feel you can’t do it by yourself, you can contact me or any good fitness instructor to help you.

Now, you don’t just create any plan, you create a plan that fits into your daily activity, one that you can do comfortably and conveniently in the sense that it won’t be interrupted by your other daily activities. Let your workout be incorporated in your daily activities.

Creating a good workout plan and sticking to it will guide you and help you stay focused.

Remember, stick to the plan!

Make Sure You Enjoy Your Workout

How do you hope to be consistent if workout is something you hate or dread or you do not enjoy at all? That is why it is very important to enjoy what you’re doing. No one is to be forced to do workout. I let my clients decide for themselves whether they want to do it or not. The best I can do is let them know of the importance and how beneficial it is to them.

As much as workout can be strenuous, I still derive enormous pleasure from doing it. In fact, I enjoy myself a lot when I workout, especially when I’m high-spirited. This is because no one forced me to and I have solid reasons why I’m doing it.

To enjoy your workout,

– Make sure you do the exercises you love doing best. You love doing push-ups or you love that equipment, then you might want to do a few reps of it whenever you workout

– You can listen to your favourite songs while doing your workout

– Give yourself commendations on how much you’re doing well, because you’re actually doing well.

Music puts in a good mood during exercise

Be Accountable To Someone

Give account of your daily workout to someone and give that person the right to give you like a punishment or something whenever you miss a workout day. It’ll help you a lot.

Keep Yourself Motivated

Many people have given up on the quest for fitness simply because they’re not motivated to do it.

Find something that motivates you and let it keep motivating you. Whenever I’m not feeling motivated to exercise, I just go check out some pictures or movies of great bodybuilders or fit people, like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Dwayne Johnson and how fit they are. This gives me a lot of motivation and then I’m back, exercising and breaking sweats.

Yours might be to form a sort of competition between you and your friends and see who does better in a specific time, or rewarding yourself, or to join a fitness group or gym. Whatever helps you stay motivated, do it.

You Could Really Use A Workout Partner

Find a partner who has like mind with you on workout issues, one that can wake you up and tell you it’s time for your workout, one who you pump iron together with. He/she might might be the one you’re accountable to.

Working out together and seeing results will help you stay motivated. It might even help you push through the last reps or sets.

Working out alone, you can quit easily compared to when you have a partner.

So, there you have it people. Consistency is key in achieving your fitness goals.
